Brooke Morris Cause of death: Rugby player mysteriously drowned after slapping a man

An inquest heard how a young rugby player drowned in a river after a rowdy night out with pals.

Brooke Morris went to a nightclub in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales, in 2019 and didn’t come home after slapping a man for making comments about her brows.

Brooke had “a lot to live for,” according to the hearing, and her parents had no concerns about her mental health.

Gary, her father, stated in a statement: “She was more of a party girl with Brooke. Ibiza would have been her ideal job.”

Coroner Rachel Knight provided a narrative conclusion by saying: “Brooke’s behavior was out of character, likely due to the amount of alcohol she had consumed, and she had slapped a man who had made a remark about her eyebrows.

“She did not return to her home, but instead wandered to the back of it and climbed a gate that led to one of the River Taff’s tributaries.

“It was impossible to determine Brooke’s motivation for walking to the bridge and jumping into the ocean.”

“She had a lot to live for, and her passing truly is a tragedy,” she told Brooke’s family.
