Biography of CNN’s Melissa Knowles. The media personality began her career as an anchor for Channel One News. She then joined ESPN, covering sports stories across the country. She later joined BET News and Fox Sports as a correspondent, and in 2014, she joined CNN as a correspondent for The Daily Share. Now she is the co-host of the morning show Morning Express with Robin Meade.

Melissa Knowles was born in Atlanta and has five siblings. Her brother is a field support specialist at CNN. Her sister is a yoga instructor, and her niece is an actress. She graduated from the University of Southern Methodist in 2004, and married Scott Bernstein in a surprise wedding in June 2013. She is currently the anchor of CNN-affiliated network Headline News. In her early career, she was a staff writer at The Daily Campus. She was also a founding member of the news program The Daily Update.


Before joining CNN, Knowles studied journalism at Southern Methodist University. She was a staff writer on The Daily Campus and one of the creators of SMU-TV’s “The Daily Update” show. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2004 and went on to work for another network, CNN. While working at CNN, she also worked as an entertainment news anchor for Morning Express. She was a freelance writer at her first job.
