The Board of Education of the Bettendorf Community School District has appointed Dr. Michelle Morse to be the district’s new superintendent, effective July 1, 2019. She will officially begin her position on July 1, 2019. The board must approve the contract before the appointment is official. Morse has been a public education administrator for more than 25 years and currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent, Human Resources for the Newhall School District in Valencia, California.
Before her appointment as Bettendorf schools’ superintendent, Morse held several positions in education. She has a master’s degree in educational leadership and a bachelor’s degree in communication disorders. She also has a minor in psychology. She was appointed to the position in March 2020, replacing Mike Raso, who resigned in June. Prior to her position in Bettendorf, Morse served as an assistant superintendent of human resources for the Newhall School District. She also held roles as a summer-school principal and director of special education for the Conejo Valley Unified School District in Thousand Oaks.
Morse has more than 25 years of experience in public education. She has been an assistant superintendent for human resources for the Newhall School District in Valencia, California. Prior to being named superintendent of the Newhall School District, she served as the district’s special education director and program specialist. She also served as the west coast education director for Generation Ready, a nonprofit organization. During her tenure at the Conejo Valley Unified School District, Morse has led two successful school districts.
