Dawna Friesen Biography
Canadian journalist Dawna Friesen is now the chief anchor and executive editor of Global National. Previously, she served as a foreign journalist for NBC News.
In 1985, she began reporting for stations in Thunder Bay, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Calgary, Vancouver, and Toronto, after which she moved on to Thunder Bay, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Calgary, and Vancouver.
In the late 1990s, she was approached by Canadian and American national networks and joined NBC News.
Friesen covered stories from London and the Middle East while at NBC, including the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and the kidnapping and death of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl in Karachi.
She received a News & Documentary Emmy Award as a correspondent for NBC’s 2008 presidential election coverage.
